Ron Chavez was born in the valley of Puerto de Luna on the banks of the Pecos River in New Mexico. In Santa Rosa he was the owner of the famous Route 66 Club Cafe. During that epic time, Chavez and his Route 66 cafe enjoyed fame in world wide major media which included books, television, magazines and newspapers. At that time, his writings began to catch fire.
His short story, "Man of Honor" was published in the anthology "Voces" by UNM Press. Also, in those first years, a string of his short stories appeared in the "Guadalupe County Communicator". In Taos, NM, he began writing poetry for the first time. His poems have been published in "The Herencia Magazine" out of Santa Fe.
